I didn’t see any change in reliability myself between drivers. And as you can see, I’m not alone with this problem.
It will not reactivate the USB port unless the plug is out and reinserted. I believe the problem must be a power thing. You should consider adding some tags to this thing, or posting it in other sections – there are TONS of users out there experiencing issues with slow USB transfer speeds, unable to find a solution – I guarantee they’ll buy you drinks and name their kids after you. Once the device disappears I am not able to get it back until I do a fresh restart.
